LLI ProgramFor my research period I used the Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI). It is a program for students who are below reading level. LLI is designed to reach students at their current reading levels and dive them into word work strategies. My students read a new leveled book every other day, while I completed running records for record keeping and to make sure students are consistently making progress.

Lesson StructureMy students completed a word work lesson that correlated with the book they were reading for each lesson. They then explored the new book, with my guidance, looking for vocabulary words, text structure, and answering questions.
My students then read the story to themselves as I listened to them read and completed running records. My students also wrote about what they had read, using different prompts I gave them. |
